Microsoft Exchange 5.5 Restore

Use the following procedures as guidelines for restoring Microsoft Exchange 5.5 after a data corruption event.

Depending on the type of corruption event you had, you can either restore the most current copy, or an historical version of the data. The recommended procedure is to restore the most recent copy of the data first. This will provide the least amount of data loss.

However, in a data corruption event, the most current backed up version may be corrupted. This is dependent on when the corruption occurred and whether the corrupted data has already been backed up. You may need to perform several restores, current then historic, until you restore a version from before the corruption occurred.

Select the procedure appropriate for your situation:

  1. Restoring Exchange data to the original Exchange Server

  2. Restoring the Information Store to a different physical server where you have installed Exchange

  3. Publishing the contents of the Public Folder

Important: These procedures should only be implemented by personnel who are trained and experienced in Windows and Exchange Server.
