Browsing and Selecting Files and Directories to Restore

Select the files to restore on the Files to Restore tab on the Computer Restore form. As you select files and directories, file selection rules are automatically generated.

Alternatively, you can manually define file selection rules.

To restore all or most of the files in a directory, it is recommended that you select the directory for restore. You can then exclude individual files from within that directory, as desired. Conversely, to restore only a few files in a directory, it is recommended that you select only the individual files to restore from within that directory.

To select files to restore

  1. In the Files to Restore tab on the Computer Restore form, there is a directory tree to the left showing the files and directories that have been backed up. Click or preceding the system, volume, and directory icons to expand or collapse the directory tree.

  2. Click a system, volume, or directory icon or name to display its contents in the selection pane to the right.

  3. In the selection pane, select and clear the boxes preceding volumes, directories, and files to specify the files to restore. Each box contains an icon indicating its selection state:

    Icon Indicates
None Files and directories that will not be restored.
Some Some files in the directories may be restored.
All Files or entire directories that will be restored.

Alternatively, click Select All to select all the files and directories on the computer for restore, or click Clear All to clear all the currently selected files and directories, so no files are selected for restore.

  4. After you select the files to restore, view the rules and adjust as required.
