Scheduling Backup
Backup will run according to the schedule that you define.
The schedule indicates when the backup will start, and when it should end.
By default, your
backup configurations are scheduled to run backup 24x7. However, you can
create a different schedule for each backup configuration. Each
configuration's schedule is independent of the other configurations'.
Using a grid that consists of hours of the day and days of the week, you specify the intervals during which
backup will run for the configuration.
A schedule interval can consist of one or more successive hours, and can span multiple days.
For example, you can create a 24x7 schedule for a configuration, such that its
backup runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
For a different configuration, you can create a schedule that runs from 6 to 12 on Friday evenings.
The schedules you set up do not affect the backup for your
Windows System State/registry. By default, the System State/registry will be
backed up twice per day at times defined by LiveVault Online Backup Service.
You cannot configure its schedule.
To schedule when a backup configuration runs
Click the Schedule tab on the Computer Backup form.
Specify when you want to run this backup configuration.
You can use one of the following methods:
Backup will start at the beginning of each interval.
Select the If necessary, run beyond scheduled time until backup
is complete check box if you want the backup to run
until backup of all changed files is complete, even if the scheduled time has
ended. This is selected by default if the Run-once backup backup
type is
selected.
Select the backup type to run:
Click Continuous backup to
run backup in continuous mode. Backup runs all the time, during the
scheduled intervals. When the interval starts, files that have changed
since the last time backup ran are synchronized, then on-going changes are
backed up as they
occur on your computer. If your schedule is 24x7 (the default), then
your files are synchronized once, then only changes are backed up. This is the default, except if you
click the Once Per Week quick scheduling button.
Click Run-once backup to start and
stop backup according to the schedule. When the schedule interval
starts, files that have changed since the last time
backup ran are synchronized. After all changed data is synchronized, backup stops even if
there is still time left in the schedule. This option is not available if
you set a 24x7 schedule. This is the default if you click the Once Per Week quick scheduling
button.
Schedule grid represents your computer's time zone
The schedule grid represents the time zone of your Agent computer that is being
backed up. For example, if you select the square for 7:00 PM on the schedule grid, the
backup will start when it is 7:00 PM on the Agent computer.
The time zone of the computer is displayed in MyLiveVault.
The time zone is based on Greenwich mean time, plus or minus the correct number of hours for the time zone adjustment.
If the computer's Date/Time properties is set to automatically adjust for daylight savings time, then the time zone displayed
reflects daylight savings time too.
For example, if a computer is in Eastern Time (US and Canada), the time zone display is either "GMT-5:00"
(if not in daylight savings time) or "GMT-4:00" (if in daylight savings time).
