Modifying a Files and Directories Backup Configuration

  1. On the MyLiveVault Home page, the All Computers form lists all the computers on your company account. Click Backup/Restore in the Action column for the computer whose Files and Directories backup configuration you want to modify.

  2. On the Computer Information form, click the Backup tab.

  3. In the Backup Configuration section, click Edit.

  4. On the Files and Directories Backup form on the Change Configuration page, click Edit.

  5. The files and directories currently selected to be backed up or excluded from backup by this configuration are shown in the Files to Backup tab on the Computer Backup form. You can use either of these methods to modify which files and directories to back up:

  6. The Backup the Registry/System State check box indicates whether the Windows System State/registry is currently being backed up. You can change this specification:

    • Select the check box to back up the System State/registry.

    • Clear the check box if you do not want to back up the System State/registry.

Important: It is important to back up the System State/registry for your computer. If you do not back it up, you may not be able to restore your databases or applications.

  7. The current schedule for the Files and Directories backup configuration is displayed on the Schedule tab. You can modify this schedule.

  8. When you are done modifying the backup configuration, click Save.

  9. Review the information in the Computer Backup form's Properties and Specifications columns

  10. Do one of the following:

    • Click Submit to accept the modified backup configuration.

    • Click Back to make additional changes to the configuration.

    • Click Cancel if you do not want to modify the configuration.

  11. At the bottom of the Change Configuration page (not in a form), click Done.

If you modified the file selections for the backup configuration, LiveVault Online Backup Service stops the backup for this configuration and restarts it using the new file selections. The computer will be in an initial synchronization state again in which only the files selected for the first time will be backed up in full (that is, files that were selected on prior backup configurations are not backed up in full again). When the initial synchronization completes, the primary technical contact will be notified by e-mail.

If you modified the schedule, schedule options, or backup type, these changes are implemented as soon as possible.
