Because the fields on this tab apply only to restores that are
delivered over the Internet, they are available only if you selected Network
or Automatic as the delivery method on the Delivery tab.
They are not available if you selected the Media delivery method.
However, if you receive your restored data on physical media, you
will get to specify these options when you restore the data from the
media to your computer.

This name does not have to be unique. You can reuse names for

| Filename conflict Options |
| Select one of the following options to indicate how
you want LiveVault Online Backup Service to handle filename
conflicts between an existing file on your computer and a file
that is being restored. |
| Auto-rename the existing file |
Select this option if you want LiveVault Online Backup Service
to rename the existing file on your computer and preserve the
restored filename, if there is a filename conflict.
An extension (in sequence) of .001, .002, etc. will be appended
to the existing file. For example, the existing file MyFile.doc
will be renamed to MyFile.doc.001, and the restored file will have
the name MyFile.doc.
LiveVault Online Backup Service will use this method to
resolve filename conflicts by default, unless you select a
different method.
Important: When restoring files/directories, we strongly recommend using this
option as it provides you the greatest
flexibility. However, this option requires that you have sufficient disk space
available for both copies (restored and existing copies) of each file. If you do
not have sufficient disk space, the restore will fail.

|
| Always overwrite existing file with restored file |
Select this option if you want LiveVault Online Backup Service
to always replace (that is, overwrite) the existing
file on your computer with the restored file, if there is a
filename conflict.
If the file is currently open, you can specify LiveVault Online Backup Service
to overwrite the open file when your computer is restarted (see
the Overwrite open files when the computer is rebooted
check box).
Important: Once a file is overwritten, you cannot
retrieve it except by restoring another version. We do not usually
recommend using this option.
|
| Overwrite existing files only if restored file is
newer |
Select this option if you want LiveVault Online Backup Service
to compare the existing and restored files if there is a filename
conflict, and to do the following:
-
If the restored file is newer, overwrite the
existing file.
-
If the existing file is newer, discard the
restored file.
If the file is currently open, you can specify LiveVault Online Backup Service
to overwrite the open file when your computer is restarted (see
the Overwrite open files when the computer is rebooted
check box).
|
| Do NOT overwrite the existing file |
Select this option if you want LiveVault Online Backup Service
to always discard the restored file if there is a filename
conflict with an existing file on your computer. This means that
the existing file is always kept. |
| Overwrite open files when the computer is rebooted |
Sometimes files to be restored are open when the
restore job runs (for example, some system DLLs).
Select this check box if you want LiveVault Online Backup Service
to store these restored files in a temporary directory until the
computer is restarted. After the computer is restarted, the open
files will be overwritten with the restored files to complete the
restore.
Note: LiveVault Online Backup Service does not
automatically restart the computer. You must restart the computer
to complete the restore.
If you clear this check box, LiveVault Online Backup Service will
skip restoring files that are open during the restore. Instead,
the restored files will be discarded and the restore failures will
be logged.
|
| Redirect restore options |
| By default, LiveVault Online Backup Service
restores files to their original location (volume and directory)
on the your computer. If the original directory does not exist, it
recreates the directory as part of the restore process. If the
original volume does not exist, the restore process fails and a
message is logged in the restore log.
However, you can specify that you want LiveVault Online Backup Service
to redirect the restore, so the data is restored to a different
location on your computer, instead of to the path where the data
was originally located.
|
| Redirect restored files to a different location |
Select this check box if you want LiveVault Online Backup Service
to restore the data to a different location on your computer,
instead of to the path where the data was originally located. |
| Preserve directories |
Select this option if you want to restore the entire
directory structure of the restored files into the directory
specified in the Path to restore to box. This will include
the full parent pathname from the root as well as all of the
selected subdirectories. |
| Don’t preserve directories |
Select this option if you want to restore all of the
selected files directly into the directory specified in the Path
to restore to box, regardless of their original placement in
subdirectories.
All the restored files are placed in the specified directory
without their old directory structure.
|
| Path to restore to |
Type the full path in which you want to restore the
files on your computer. For example, if you want the directory
structure to be inserted below the C: root, type C:\
Note: You must restore files to local fixed drives on a computer.
LiveVault Online Backup Service does not support restores to mapped network drives. |
| Security descriptors options |
| Select one of these options to indicate whether you
want LiveVault Online Backup Service to restore the original
NTFS security descriptors for the data, or to use the default
security at the restore location. |
| Restore the original NTFS security descriptors |
Select this option to restore the original NTFS
security descriptors with the restored files and directories. |
| Apply the default NTFS security descriptors |
Select this option to skip restoring the NTFS
security descriptors with the restored files. Instead the default
NTFS security descriptors set for the restore location will be
used. |
