Restore Details

Purpose

Use this Restore Details form to:

  • View details about the restore job's configuration.

  • View details about the restore job's status.

Fields and Buttons

Field/Button Description
(Restore ID) "<Restore name>" Restore Status Displays the restore job's ID followed by its name. The unique restore ID was assigned to the restore job when the restore was requested. The name was assigned by the user who requested the restore.
Current status Indicates the current status of the job. For example:
  • Restore running.

    This restore job is currently active. This status may apply to both Network and Media restores.

  • Restore complete. No errors. | n errors.

    This restore job has completed. The number of errors that were encountered by the job, if any, are indicated. If errors occurred, refer to the restore log located on the computer you restored the data to. This status applies to Network restores only.

  • Restore pending.

    This restore job has not yet run. For Network and Media restores, this status is displayed while a prescan is running to determine the amount of data to be restored.

  • Processing restore request.

    This Media restore job is currently active. For example, this is displayed while data is being restored to the media.

  • Restore shipped.

    The data has been restored and written to the media, and the media has been shipped.

  • Restore pending delivery method decision.

    This restore was submitted as an Automatic restore, and the decision on which delivery method (network or media) to use is still pending.

  • Restore cancelled.

    This restore job was cancelled.

  • Restore failed.

    This restore job encountered errors and failed. For information about the errors that occurred, refer to the restore log located on the computer you restored the data to. This status may apply to both Network and Media restores.

Restoring / Restored <amount of data> Indicates the amount of data being restored for a Network restore job.
Progress bar This graphical progress bar indicates what percentage of the Network restore job has completed. This is based on a prescan of the data to be restored, and is dynamically updated to maintain accuracy. It is displayed once the prescan information is available.
Estimate complete in <time> This text is displayed while a Network restore job is running. It specifies how long the restore job will run until it completes. For example:

The estimated completion information is based on a prescan of the data to be restored, and is dynamically updated to maintain accuracy. It is displayed once the prescan information is available.

This estimate will be readjusted as necessary following disconnect/reconnect occurrences.

Log file located on <computer> in <path> Displays the full path and filename of the log file generated by the completed Network restore job.
Files to Restore Displays a summary of the data specified to be restored.

Specifies the files and directories that were selected to be restored and not to be restored. The summary is in the file selection rules format:

  • Include (restore this file) or Exclude (do not restore this file).

  • Path to restore or exclude from the restore, including wildcards.

  • Whether to restore the subdirectories.

For a System State/registry restore, displays the text:

For a disaster recovery on media restore, displays the text:

All files and directories on all volumes

Options Provides a summary of the options specified for this restore, including:
  • Whether it is restoring current or historic file versions (as of the specified date and time). 

  • Whether deleted files are being restored.

  • The method selected for handling filename conflicts. For example, Auto-rename the existing file. This only appears for Network restores.

  • Whether the restored files were redirected to a different location (applicable for Network restores only).

  • The selected security descriptor restore option. For example, Restore the original NTFS security descriptors. This only appears for Network restores.

Delivery Displays the delivery options for the restore job, including:
  • The delivery method (for example, Delivering data over network, Shipping data on media, Best route (to be determined).

  • If applicable, the shipping information including shipping address, shipping method, shipment tracking number, and media data was shipped on.

Details This text provides details about the following:
  • Who created (or requested) the restore job.

  • When the restore job was created.

  • When the media containing the restored data was shipped to the specified shipping address. This only appears for Media restores.

  • When a Network restore job completed.
