Backup Configuration Details

Purpose

Use this Backup Configuration Details form to:

  • View details about the backup configuration.

  • View details about the backup configuration's status.

Fields and Buttons Descriptions

Field/Button Description
"<Backup configuration name>" Backup Status Displays the name of the backup configuration, for example:
  • Files and Directories.

  • Exchange 2000/2003 or 5.5 (or Microsoft Exchange 2000 or 5.5 for Agent version 3.6 or earlier).

  • The name assigned to the database configuration.

Current status This text indicates the operational status of the backup configuration. For example:
  • Initial synchronization pending

This status is displayed if a backup configuration has not yet run for the first time, or if a configuration has been changed but the changed configuration has not yet started.

  • Initial synchronization

This status is displayed while the initial backup synchronization is running for this configuration. It is also displayed if someone changed the list of which files or directories are being backed up by this configuration and an initial full synchronization is running of only those files which have not been previously backed up by any configuration.

Note: An initial synchronization may take a long time to complete, for example, several days, depending on the amount of data being backed up and the uplink speed of your Internet connection.

  • Synchronizing

Following the completion of the initial synchronization, this status is displayed when the backup configuration is synchronizing. A synchronization runs each time a backup starts, for example, if you schedule backup to run nightly, instead of 7x24, or when an Agent reconnects following a prolonged disconnection from LiveVault Online Backup Service.

  • Automatic Backup operating normally

This status is displayed for an automatically maintained Exchange or Files and Directories backup configuration after the initial synchronization has completed, and backup is running in continuous mode or is scheduled to run in the future.

  • Backup operating normally

This status is displayed after the initial synchronization has completed, and backup is running in continuous mode or is scheduled to run in the future.

  • Disconnected

This status is displayed if the computer has been disconnected from LiveVault Online Backup Service for more than 15 minutes.

  • Suspended

This status is displayed while backup is temporarily stopped (suspended).

Backup remains in this state until you resume it.

Note: If this status is displayed only for a certain backup configuration (not for all configurations), then this indicates that the specified configuration has been suspended by Customer Service due to a backup issue (the issue and this action would have been previously discussed with either a technical contact for this computer or another representative of your company).

In addition, should a problem other than a disconnect occur which disrupts your service, a message is displayed here.

Backing up <amount of data> This text indicates the total amount of data being backed up by this backup configuration, including:
  • Number of files already backed up and the total number of files to be backed up

  • Amount of data (in MB or GB, as appropriate) already backed up and the total amount of data to be backed up.

Backed up as of at least This text indicates that the LiveVault Online Backup Service backup server contains a backup version of your data that is at least as current as the date and time specified here (which reflect the Agent computer's date/time). This information does reflects backup latency and synchronizations.

For example, Backed up as of at least: 1/19/2004 1:42 PM

This text is not displayed while an initial synchronization (either the first full computer synchronization or any subsequent initial synchronization due to a modified backup configuration) is running.

If you chose to restore the current version of the data backed up on this configuration, the most current backed up version would be restored, which is at least the specified version if not a more recent one.

Because this field is updated at ten minute intervals, it is possible that an even more current version of your changing data is already on the backup server. In some instances, such as open and changing databases, it may be up to thirty minutes after the changes are made on the Agent before the displayed version information reflects those changes. For more information, see Currency of data on the backup server in Backing Up Your Data: An Overview.

Progress bar This graphical progress bar indicates what percentage of the initial backup synchronization has completed. The percentage is figured across all data being backed up for this configuration.

This bar will not be displayed after initial synchronization completes.

Backup state This text provides information about the state of the backup for this configuration. For example:
  • Initializing

This text is displayed while a synchronization (initial or subsequent) is running, but prior to the availability of estimated completion information or progress information.

  • Estimate complete in <time>

This text is displayed while an initial synchronization is running. It specifies how long the synchronization will run until it completes.

The estimated completion information is based on a prescan of the data to be backed up, and is dynamically updated to maintain accuracy.

This estimate will be readjusted as necessary following disconnect/reconnect occurrences.

  • Processed n files, n KB

Following the completion of the initial synchronization, this text is displayed when the backup configuration is synchronizing. It specifies the total amount of data, by number of files and bytes, that have been synchronized so far.

  • Currently running

This text indicates that the initial synchronization completed for the configuration, and either backup is now running in continuous mode or a subsequent synchronization is running.

  • Currently not running; will be restarted

This text indicates that backup for the configuration should be running now but is not. For example, the backup could have been cancelled due to an error condition. The backup will be restarted (either automatically or by Customer Service). You do not need to do anything to restart it, unless directed by Customer Service.

  • Scheduled to execute at <date time>

This text indicates that the backup configuration is not currently running but is scheduled to next run at the specified future date and time.

Note: The specified date/time reflects the Agent computer's time zone.

Files to Back Up Displays a summary of the files that the configuration is to back up and not to back up. The summary is in the rules format:
  • Include (back up this file) or Exclude (do not back up this file).

  • Path to back up or exclude from backup, including wildcards.

  • Whether to back up subdirectories.

Note: This list does not include any of the LiveVault Online Backup Service Agent automatic exclusions.

Schedule Displays the backup type, either:
  • Continuous backup = Backup runs all the time, synchronizing the files once, then backing up changes as they occur on your computer.

  • Run-once backup = Start and stop backup according to a schedule, synchronizing the files each time the backup starts.

Also displays a summary of the schedule. For example, 7x24. The specified schedule reflects the Agent computer's time zone.
Options For the Files and Directories backup configuration, indicates whether the Backup the Registry/System State option is selected.
Details This text indicates both:
  • Who created the backup configuration and when.
  • Who last edited the configuration and when.
