Finding Your Computer's Machine Name

Windows NT 4.0

If your computer is running Windows NT 4.0, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the Network Neighborhood icon on your Windows Desktop.

  2. Click Properties. The Network dialog box opens.

  3. On the Identification tab, look in the Computer Name box. This is the machine name of your computer.

Windows 2000/2003

If your computer is running Windows 2000/2003, follow these steps:

  1. Right-click on the My Computer icon on your Windows Desktop.

  2. Click Properties. The System Properties dialog box opens.

  3. Click the Network Identification tab, then click Properties. The Identification Changes dialog box opens.

  4. Look in the Computer name box. This is the machine name of your computer.
