Configuring Your Backup: Guidelines
Configuring backup in LiveVault Online Backup Service is easy.
However, if you are running certain applications on your computer,
there are some instances that require additional configuration of
either the LiveVault Online Backup Service backup, or of the other applications.
Use the information provided here to help you configure successful and
efficient backup for your computers. If you require assistance,
contact
Customer Service.
The following list provides backup configuration settings for a typical set of databases and applications.
Use them as guidelines when configuring backup of your databases and applications.
For backing up databases and applications in general we recommend:
Select to backup all directories that contain data that the database/application uses.
Schedule backup to run 24x7, continuously. However, you can set any schedule you desire.
Important: It is important to back up the Windows System State/registry for your
computer. If you do not back it up, you may not be able to restore your
databases or applications. The System State/registry is backed up by default as
part of your Files and Directories backup configuration.
The following applications can run on your computers that are also running LiveVault Online Backup Service.
However, additional configuration is required. If you are
running one of these applications on your computer, click on the
application name for a help topic providing further information.
To improve performance, we recommend that you exclude from backup any
files that are extraneous or redundant. Some of these are automatically excluded
from backup, while others require that you manually exclude them. For more information, see
Automatic and Recommended Backup Exclusions.
